New Corsa SXI
Welcome to the new Vaxhaull Corsa SXI, as soon as your eyes glimspe this car they will be fixed on nothing else. This is down to its extremely stylish exterior with its fantastic curves and slick body it really has moved forward into the future of motoring. The colours range from very luxurious black and white to other colours such as silver lightening and a matted red. When you actually get inside the vehicle you will be under the impression that you are driving a much larger car, it has shall we say an "executive or 4x4 feel to it" even though its a small hot hatch back. The interior is a spacious and suttle place to be, it includes bucket style seats, a stylish dash display and dials also a leather sports steering wheel with sound system controls.
The sxi comes in different engine sizes which are the following: a 1.0i 12v, a 1.2 16v 85 bhp engine, a 1.3 CDTI engine 95 bhp also a 1.4 16v engine producing 95 bhp. After driving the 1.2 i can say that the pick up isnt as responsive as i had hoped for. It seems to be a slow painful wait for the revs to pick up but as soon as it reaches gears 3-4 it really picks up well thus performing better for motorway driving. Driving around the city isnt bad either it can sneak through smaller gaps and is nippy due to its size, also parking isnt much hassle. The steering itself is excellent with the latest electronic power assisted steering it doesnt take much effort to turn around tight corners. The sxi has stiffened sports suspension which really gives it that extra handling performance around corners if you dare to drive fast around them. With the stiff suspension comes an uncomfortable ride which isnt unbearable but after a good hour, hour and a half your back will be feeling the strain after the road bumps etc. The corsa sxi's come with many extras such as 17" alloys, ipod connection, trip computer, vxr body styling, window tints, exhaust tip, sat nav and so on.
With a combined fuel consumption of 51.4 mg for the 1.4 model only one or two less than the 1.2 model it will keep that extra change in your pocket for another drive out. The standard price approximately £12,200 to 14,000 with the 5dr version. Overall a well built, reliable, good looking hot hatch back if your not worried to much about power go for the 1.2 to save on fuel but if you want that extra bit of spark from the engine try the 1.4 model or even the sri and vxr range.
